We work hard to extend the work of our parent organization, Shoulder to Shoulder. It is our mission to improve health care in San Jose del Negrito, Honduras as well provide opportunities for training for US-based health professionals in an international setting.

Our brigade was very successful. We dedicated our new clinic building with a ceremony on Tuesday, March 24. The health committee decorated the clinic and planned a beautiful day of events. Many local leaders were also invited. We also began a new project during this brigade. It is The Well Child Health Initiative. We saw over 400 children during several away trips to other villages. The children were enrolled in the program via a computer program. They were weighed and measured. They had an eye exam and had their hemoglobin checked. They were given medicine for their eyes and to prevent parasites. They had their teeth varnished. They received a physical exam and were given medications for any acute problems. These same children and more will be followed on subsequent visits to Honduras. We also hired a new full time Honduran doctor. His name is Wilmer Trochez.
